The statement that external conductor systems (conductor rod and Faraday) fully protect a facility is misleading. These systems are required to provide building and life safety in particular against direct lightning strikes on the construction. Therefore, overvoltage protectors must be used against impacts that might come from overhead lines and underground cables.
