Lightning Rod and Maintanence Grounding Installation; Your lightning protection systems, electric and grounding installations such as Radioactive Lightning Rods, Active Lightning Rods and Faraday Cage should be inspected at least once in a year in accordance with the undermentioned statutes and spesifications.
According to “Grounding Regulations for Electirical Installations”, annex P which was prepared by Ministry of Energy and National Resources, entered into force in and published on 21.08.2001 in 24500 Official Newpaper, the undermentioned periods are given corcening the inspection, measurement and controls for various grounding installations in the operation period:
►Electric production, transmission and distribution installations(except for the energy transfer and distribution lines): 2 years
►For energy transfer and distribution lines: 5 years
For industrial facilities and trade centers:
►Inspection and measurement of resistance concerning grounding: 1 year
►Other inspections, measurement and controls concerning grounding: 2 years
For non-fixed installations:
►For fixed operation items: 1 year
►For non-fixed operation items: 6 months
The inspection, measurement and control period of the grounding installations where grounding work is associated with wet environment such as the ones specified in the Regulations About Measurements to be taken on Business Sites and Works related to Flammable,Explosive Dangerous and Harmful Elements shall not exceed one year.
According to the article no. 2.11.2 of TS622, published by Turkish Standards Institutions on 04.12.1990 and entered into force with the Council of Ministers Decree of number 7/11204 on 4.1.1976; “Inspections should be made at regular intervals not exceeding 12 months. In order for seasons to change when the inspections are made, it is appropriate to determine a period less than 12 months.”
According to article no.47.15.1 of “General Technical Spesifications, Chapter 7, Constructive Works Electric General Technical Spesifications” which was published by the Ministry of Public Works and Settlement “the maintanence of every kinf of lightning protection installation shall be made periodically once in a year.” Moreover, according to the Occupational Security Statute of the Ministry of Labor and Social Security it is mandatory to have lightning rod and grounding maintanence.

Works Conducted During Lightning Rod Maintanence
Radioactive lightning rod cowl signal test is conducted with radiation measurement device NEB-211.
Provided that active lightning rod is testable concerning its brands, cowl test is done.
By inspecting radioactive and active lightning rod installations physically, whether they comply with TS 622 is determined.
By measuring the resistance of lightning rod grounding installations, it is checked that whether they comply with the norms or not.
Except for thelightning rod installation; the grounding resistance of operating, protection, ups, transformer points are measured and checked if they are in conformance with the norms.
Works Conducted Following Lightning Rod Maintanence:
Following the inspection, the works is reported and signed by an member engineer of Chambers of Electical Engineer, who has SMM document.
The calibration documents of grounding equipment used for measurement and radiation measurement device, the SMM Document of the authourized Electrical Engineer, reports and invoice regarding the conducted work are posted to your address.
